I work for a cheap guy. We have an agreed upon four day a week schedule. When asked to work five days a week I asked if he wanted me to take comp time or to submit that day for pay on the timesheet. He said he would pay me. When submitting my time sheet for those days, I reminded him that I had added that additional day. He said he didn't have time to figure out the pay for that day, nor did he want to hassel with it, so he told me to take it as comp time.... I'm studying for additional creditials within my field. When I told him, he offerred to pay for the classes. After I passed the first class, I submitted the charge, along with my passing grade, and he gave it back to me with a note that said he couldn't afford it at this time. When I asked him if I had misunderstood, he said no, but that he was re-thinking the offer and that he might reimburse me after all the classes were done and I had taken the final. HELLO!!!! I never asked for him to pay for the classes to begin with and then to have him handle it like this tells me volumns about his character. As soon as I have the creditials I need to move on, I'm out of there!!!!! And employers wonder why there's loyality!!!!!!

It seems to me that he made a verbal contract with you about the extra work and classes. Get as much info about both along with a verbal description and as many times/dates, etc. that you have related to these. I worked for a liar-they enjoy lying like a klepto likes stealing-UNTIL they have to pay! MAKE HIM PAY!!

Oh, and I forgot to mention to call your state labor department about what you can do. He might have had similar complaints lodged about him. I found out that my old liar boss was being watched carefully, and in a state where employers can fire at will-he was that big of a rat!
