Has anyone ever had a really heated conversation, and the longer it went on the worse it got. I just had one, and I feel really bad about it, and I am really regretful now that I am off the phone and I have had time to cool.
I wrote an apology email, and I called and apologized too. But I still feel really bad. I'm a bad person, aren't I?

Bad person? No...just human. We've all been there. You made a mistake and you owned up to it. That's the part that matters.

He's right. You're human and not a bad person at all. The next time that you get close to having a heated conversation or losing your temper on the career front, bite your tongue. With some people, no matter what you say or do, you will never be right or win the argument, if they're the type that are always right. You can never change a critic's mind or opinion. You can consider these people your dragons (a term found in a good business book). Dragons are people that are not your friends. They are the ones that will say mean things to you and about you, because they don't care about you and/or feel your pain. They are absolutely the most honest opinions that you will ever get on the career front or in this world, for that matter. People who don't like you will be quick to point out your flaws. Although, their words hurt, you can use their awful words to take a closer look at yourself and to better yourself. Befriend your dragons in this way. Let their mean words help to shape you into a better person. Also, by walking away and not arguing at the moment, it gives both parties time to cool off and think things through a little more clearly. It's better than saying something you'll live to regret.
