stricter than the military

a friend of mine was working at a fast food place in town when one day he messed up his ankle and had to go to the hospital. the hospital said to stay off it for a week and to go easy on it for a couple weeks thereafter. his wife was in the national guard (eventually to be sent to Iraq). when he talked to his manager at work, she wanted the paperwork from the hospital, the name tags the emergency room gave them, the name bracelet he wore and a doctor's excuse for everyday he was out. he had to go back to the hospital for the excuses after he could walk and the orderly refused to give an excuse for more than the day he was in the hospital. so he couldn't go back to work without coming up with an excuse for the weeks he wasn't supposed to walk and the time it took to try and them. so he was technically unable to return to work without them firing him. his wife, however, only had to show the one excuse to be ok with the military.

knew one girl who got fired because she couldn't get to work. something about a hurricane and flooding in her town 45 minutes away. her manager's reasoning... the weather was fine where she was at.
