We ought to have a category just for office party outrages! About 15 years ago, a small company I worked for had a record-setting 4th quarter. It was suggested that a nice holiday party was in order. The owner was notoriously cheap, and had a squirrely little manager and sleazy secretary who were always lining their own nests. The manager said that something nice was being put together, and so we gathered together in the reception lounge. A simple luncheon with meat, vegetable, and fruit platters, soft drinks, etc., along with a thank-you speech would have been great. Instead, the secretary comes out with one of those huge bags of generic chips (already opened!) and places it on a table, saying with a twisted smile that that was the owner's contribution to the festivities. That's when our top account rep went over and pounded the bag of chips repeatedly before throwing it to the floor. "I'm going to the bar across the street-who's joining me?" she announced as we all made for the door. Less than 15 minutes later, the squirrely manager showed up at the bar, sweating and shouting "I'll pay for all of this-just come back to work...Please!" We proceeded to order as much food and drink as possible... hundreds of dollars worth. I'm sure the company credit card paid it off. Until I seven months later, the owner never spoke to any of us again. Guess he found out who the boss was!

That's hilarious!!! I love that the guy had the balls to pound the bag of chips and take everybody with him! You just don't see that these days because people are too whipped by their companies. And I agree...hey admin, we need an office party category!
