Reading all the ridiculous things bosses and companies do reminds me of my braniac company. After 9/11 I guess there was a fear of being "safe" among the employees. We worked in a highrise and rather than distributing "personal parachutes" they decided to do the next best thing and hand out "Safety Fanny Packs". The fanny packs, of course had the company logo on them. Perhaps they wanted their logos all over the screen when the news showed footage of dead bodies. ANYWAY...the safety fanny packs included things that I know made us all sleep better knowing we had them accesible in our top office drawer. The WTF contents were as follows:
1 Glow stick
1 Bottle of water
1 Whistle
Seriously...that's it. And wait, it gets better...when do they issue these fanny packs with the GLOW STICK in it? Yep! You guessed it kids...the DAY BEFORE HALLOWEEN.
DUH!! Yes, folks, most people laughed and took the glow stick home to their kids for halloween. (Although I know mine got cracked open and poured into a company toilet for "scientific research purposes".)
The day we all got the fanny packs...sounds of adults blowing whistles echoed throughout the office building floors for about a day.
To top this all off...this company has offices all over America and tons of "remote" people working at home. So they spent a boat load of cash to send fanny packs of fun with whistles, glow sticks and water...to every employee in the country...the day before Halloween. Hot dam I felt safe.
