NOT LOOKING GOOD UPDATE--NICE ON AND OFF AND NOW I FEEL BAD

I posted last week about my new, somewhat moody boss who was being a complete jerk the day I wrote it.
After that, he was out of town for some time, then came back. When he came back, he was very cool, laid back, and seemingly in a good mood. He didn't snip or act b-tchy last week. After a good 2 days, he's now out of town again.
Although he still tends to "overcorrect" at times (like prematurely emailing me saying "This isn't done" and then I have to explain that I just finished it, or why it isn't done yet), he's been cool.
I like to think that he was just having a bad week that one time and that underneath it all he's cool. But based on the "escalating" type behavior at that time, I'm not sure I trust it. Is he a nice guy who tends to take out his bad mood on others, or a jerk who likes to put on a nice, honeymoon-phase facade so that I don't know when he'll strike next?

To clarify--what I feel bad about is calling him a jerk that one time, because he's being such a nice guy. Shit.

Bosses need to be aware that EVERY comment or move they make is under scrutiny by those under them-after all, their jobs may depend on it!

And not just under scrutiny, but that their words and actions affect people too. We aren't computers or robots where they just program us to do things adn order us around; we are people with feelings!

Hey, cynic-you know what they say, "once burnt, twice shy." I can imagine that you might be a little sensitive to the "bad boss" signs. After all, you don't call yourself "cynic" for nothing! Well, give it some time, it might be all right, after all-I hope so.
