I've just recently joined after reading and enjoying the mayhem. It's so nice to have somewhere to vent. Sometimes just doing that is enough to help you cope, until something better comes along, or B.S. blows through.
A thought I had about these posts; while, for the most part, no names are used, and this is just an "anger management" tool, what protection does one have against retaliation if someone were to read these gripes? Obviously, this is "Free Speech" in pure form, and fully protected by the First Amendment. Thoughts?

Yeah it's protected! And I know a good lawyer, too! It keeps me from screaming at work! Personally, I find if I can yell here, then it's off my chest to some extent, and I can better handle the stress.

Found this on FAQ page: "My company has a policy against blogging, is posting on your site considered blogging? It's kind of a gray area and you should examine your company's policy. JobSchmob.com is not a blog, but it is public. Company gag orders seem to be a growing trend and that's both sad and scary. We don't believe all the power should rest on the side of companies, which is why we created Job Schmob in the first place. If companies don't want bad things said about them, they should treat their employees with respect and generosity. They should work to resolve employee issues and keep them happy. If employees are happy, they won't complain. With the exception of trade secrets or proprietary information, a gag order on employees is very telling about a company's attitude towards their work environment. If companies have nothing to hide, then what do they have to worry about?"

This is why we have to work to keep forums and things like this open. I too, found it a god send in both commenting and reading other people's horror stories and have been coming here regularly ever since. I consider you guys famiy! We need this place. And let me tell you, the minute they tried to take something like that away is the minute I'd get on my marching boots and go to war! My company does not have a policy against blogging and maybe it's because they haven't thought of it or maybe it's because they know what's good for them, I don't know. Either way, I value my right to free speech and wil exercise it as I see fit! But that's "just me".

Hey, I figure that if HR doesn't wanna hear or fix problems, then you all will have to listen to be B***H instead!

I believe in free speech too, but if you are worried about company GAG orders, don't shoot yourself in the foot by doing it on company time!
ACube2Graphic(08/22/2006)
How do you know whether we're doing this on company time or not?! I get on here in the morning and when I get home. Besides, this is a public forum, and a free country!
