As I was reading Dharmadee's story and all of these stories here at this site, I could feel the butterflys in my stomach start to churn. This is an epidemic! Workers are be treated very poorly! Why do corporations, universities, hospitals, and what few manufacturers that are left, get away with it! Is it because of the influx of cheap labor from other countries, or is it because "we" have fallen asleep at the wheel and let "them" get away with it? I want to believe in the "goodness" of human nature, but I am turning towards the animal model of human nature. "Give me mine and screw the rest of you." What ever happend to compassion and kindness? Society is heading in a very bleak direction, I am really glad I did not have children. However I am not invalidating your choice to have children, and I hope for the best for them, but I could not bring myself to do that to an innocent child. I am currently fostering two children, whose mother left them for two weeks with only a loaf of bread in the house! I am scared to death for their future and collectively all of our futures! Thank you for letting me rant, I am very thankful to this site. It is good to see that I am not alone with these issues. Best wishes to all of you!

freedomringer, I think you are right. I think we have fallen asleep at the wheel. Well you know what? We, al of us here, are slowly waking up little by little. And we can help stir up other people as well, you know? We are letting them get away with it. We are willing lambs to the slaughter if we let ourselves be. I see it so much more cearly now, all the things my company has done to get me to think a certain way and to "just be thankful" for my job while they piss on me and my coworkers. I see so many underlying messages we're getting and new policies they create to keep us controlled. I am starting to feel like an old hippie, but I genuinely believe it's time for a change because we have fallen asleep at the wheel. That's a great way to put it. Thank you for this post and for letting me know I'm not aone in my thoughts. I had begun to get a little frustrated lately. I haven't been on the site for a week or two and I think I forgot how much I needed to know there were other people out there who see what I see and realize that we're being taken for a ride by these companies and employers. But now I end with your same question: What should we do?

Thank you avid reader, it is good to know that I am not insane or think differently than others. I am a big believer in respect being a two way street. I treat you kind and in return you grant me the same. We may not see eye to eye on everything under the sun, but I grant you and others the wisdom and respect to live and let live. I am not here to change your mind but to express mine and listen and learn from others opinions and stories. I read this site daily because I have been the target of a berating boss. And yes I heard the voice in my head say, maybe it is really me, maybe I am the real problem and true maybe I have contributed to some of my woes, but I did not deserve the treatment I received. I will respect anyone until they do not grant me the same and then I have a hard time wrapping my head around anything they say or do! Yes I am a subordinate and I will take anything to get my paycheck, but when my company tells me I have to live their way, I say NO WAY!!! They pay me for eight hours a day! I dont stick around to show the boss my dedication anymore after he called a "Dr. Jeckyl/Mr.Hyde" to cover his own behind. I used to work all crazy hours trying to impress him and show him my productivity, now I am here from 9 to 5, and not a second longer!
