In breaking news, I finally started the new job! That is a good thing. But I have to be "cynical" too to live up to my name, so will say that I am a little nervous about the following line uttered during my training: "During a hurricane or snowstorm, the office may close completely or open at 10, but let's say, and it's likely, that your boss decides you're "key" and you need to be there at 8 regardless. You'll get paid overtime!"
Great, so I've got a new and great job, but let's hope I don't have to be alone in the building or stranded on the cross-state train when the snow and/or hurricane hits! If I risk my life, I get time and a half! Pray for good weather and I'll be just fine and dandy! :-)

Good luck Cynic. I have been reading your posts and I have enjoyed them. I hope this new job is everything your heart desires! However, it has been my experience that after the honeymoon period things always suck. But that is why it is called work! I don't think it is supposed to be enjoyable. I have always been envious of people who thought that their work was enjoyable. I like what I do for a living, but I would rather be independently wealthy and live on an island in the South Pacific; drinking margeritas by the Ocean and working on my tan! Keep us posted!
Fear(09/13/2006)
UH OH. I work for a call cetner in GA. It hardly snows down here, but when it does it is a nightmare. They told me if it snows they send out trucks and buses to pick people up for work. I told them they better not set foot on my property. If they call I will not answer. I will not drive in that weather. I did one time when I worked for at a call center for UPS and some guy hit me head on driving to fast for condtions. NEVER AGAIN. I don't trust any other moron to drive ME in that junk either. It is a minor quibble though. Good luck pal with the new job!
