I work for a company, run by a nice Taiwanese guy, that makes $25 million a year. He owns 4 expensive cars, pays for the employees health insurance (No check deductions!), buys us all lunch once a month, and throws a big Christmas party with raffle gifts. Pretty cool.
In February, with a lot of coercing from the GM and the Graphics lead, he bought a $30,000 colour printer (that punches, staples, & folds) for our graphics department to print out our own catalogs. Today we are told that he got a deal in China to print our books out, and that we'll just use this machine to print out flyers and occasional books. I just don't understand the thinking here. This printer, at 5 cents per page, would be $1.90 per book. And they're gonna charge him $13 per book??! Talk about dropping a dollar to pick up a penny. I know they teach math in Taiwan. I know; they can waste money if the want to, but I can't even get a raise and I'm doing most of the work!

It may be that he has \"friends\" overseas and he is just throwing some business there way. Or maybe he owes them a favor. I\'ve seen similar situations at my company (privately owned).

Yeah, that's really too bad. Sounds like he definitely has ulterior motives.
