OK, I won't let the door hit me in the butt!

I recently became aware that I'm eligible for a pretty good promotion, same company. I've interviewed and the likelihood is good that I've got it.
My bosses are both aware of my interest and my chances and while I've had no official offer to accept or deny, chances are looking good.
So what do they do? I have been professional and have told nobody that I'm up for this promotion. However, they have been making plans for filling my job..which, by the way, I haven't even left yet.
I had 3 people ask me today what I know! They have all been approached for ideas about replacing me!
I feel like that guy in the Monty Python movie. I'M NOT DEAD YET!
So much for me making my own announcement. And what happens if I don't accept it after all? (Unlikely after all this, but geez, already!)
And people wonder why their employees quit!
(Thanks for listening to me vent. If I do it at work people will just ask me if I'm stressed out over the new job. Which, I HAVEN'T TAKEN YET!!!)
