Let's Do That Bad Thing We Said We Would Do

Catchy title, huh?

Apparently those types of word phrases are catchy to corporate e-mail analyzing software too.  In the article I linked to below you can read up on what company investigators look for when searching through e-mails for incriminating evidence.  Here's a snippet:

The first step is knowing what investigators look for. The latest software doesn't just hunt for obviously hot words and phrases like "insider trading" or "Let's break the law tomorrow at 3:47." Cataphora, a company that helps lawyers mine data in cases where millions of e-mails need to be analyzed, uses software that searches for more subtle tendencies: language that seems intentionally vague ("that thing we talked about") and word combinations that indicate worry ("can't sleep," "confused and bewildered," "regret").

Oh and by the way, your time frame habits fall under scrutiny too.  If you are a person who regularly send e-mails during the day and all of a sudden you're e-mailing in the middle of the night, that sends up a big fat red flag.  Who knew?

All this new information has really got me dying to see the list of red-flagged word combinations.  I wonder if they search for phrases like my personal favorites: "the eagle has landed" and "the chicken is in the pot and ready to be boiled"?  If they do, then I'm in hot water and ready to be boiled myself!

So here's the heads up to all you white collar criminals and corporate hot and heavies.  If you're gonna communicate about it over e-mail, for God's sake, get creative with your cryptic messages!

I'll leave you with a saying I recently adopted: "Be good or be good at it". I think it applies here!

Schmobbers, here's a challenge for you:  Come up with some creative ways to say "Let's move forward with the embezzlement scheme we planned out at your place after sex last night".  Ready?  GO!
