I felt really bad leaving a job of only 13 months for another position that offered more money. So instead of telling the truth at the last second while clentching my teeth in my managers office I told them I was offered a position overseas and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to practice my profession in a foreign country on a short term project. Several years later I ran into an old friend that I had worked with, and decided to meet for a drink afterwork. I picked her up but first went in to say hello to the old gang. One of the mail room clerks asked me how my foreign position worked out, and I just gave him a perplexed look because I had no idea what he was talking about. It wasn't until my previous manager clarified my job opportunity overseas that the lightbulb went on. Oops!

Always best to stay very vague when leaving a job, unless you document everything to yourself. Otherwise you forget and look foolish.
