After working @ a medical office for nearly 10 years... My peer (Business office directer - "queenie") decided that she wanted my job, and to be the director of the coding department. Of course, she has no coding skills at all...
So, She managed to "brown nose" the boss. She got me de-moted to a "hospital coder" rather than a "director" and was "awarded" the combination of both the medical business office and the coding directorship together.
So... I am just slogging in /out my time, and looking for a new job. However, after being a "hospital coder" for nearly 8 months... they decide to fire me because "They felt like it... and I didn't meet the companys" "mission, Vision, and values".
Then to add insult to injury, they gave me my 90 day evaluation and it said I was "not meeting standard", yet I had been doing the job of 2 people for the last 8 months.
In the state of Idaho, you can be fired for any reason, at any time, as this is a "work at will" state. What happened to company loyalty???
I feel physicially much better since I've been outta that place, but It still just pisses ya' off. I am collecting my unemployment but deep down - I hope that bitch "queenie" gets her "just reward" and "Karma" slaps her hard!. I hope the rest of the company really figures out what she's like, and sends her packing down the road. Between her and her "butt-buddie" in HR Mindee (who doesn't even have a degree and is running the HR department) the two of them High-five each other in the hallways each time they get to "fire" someone. How healthy is that??? Especially for a medical clinic.
In addition to firing me, The 2 bitches also fired our "call center manager" . Ilezza had been with the company nearly 23 years and they sent her down the road the same day they fired me. They've been on quite a roll... They fired the HR guy "Joe" for "insubordination", "eliminated the job for 3 separate highly-paid nursing positions, becauase they could hire MA's 3-1 in terms of hourly pay" Too bad the patients have to suffer.....
... and then the physicians wonder why the company is not making any money???... and the morale is in the toilet??? Hmmmmmmmmm... seems pretty obvious to me!!!

The helping/healing professions are among the worst for this crap. One place I worked for replaced a degreed HR manager for a burger flipper-I'm not kidding!! In these situations, being a yes-man is the only job requirement...
