So wait... this is supposed to be MORE efficient???

So our company has outsourced it's employees to make things run smoother and more efficiently. Okay, so why then does it take me 3 hours to write specs, 5 days to get the work order processed/approved and then another 10 - 14 days for the developer to complete a change? A change that would have taken me less than 5 minutes had I been allowed to do so.

This is not to bash the developers (most of them are still the same people who worked with me before). The problem lies with the outsourcing company and their policies and requirements. I am in the code, looking at what needs to be done and could make the change and be done with it. Instead, I am not allowed to make the change because I'm no longer a developer. I have to enter a request with "detailed" specs and if these specs are not detailed enough, they get kicked back to us to enhance... thus delaying the change at least another week.

Tell me, where is the efficiency? It's not about money we're told... I sure as hell hope not!
