How do I lie to them???

I've been chosen as the employee who will interview candidates for the personality portion - the technical side is being taken care of by the Senior programmers. Anyway, how do I look these poor innocent candidates in the eye and honestly interview them to work in this hell hole? I have come right out and asked how they would handle 'hell-like' situations (but didn't say that they would encounter them here)... I'm hoping when they leave the interview they consider my questions and start to think why I asked... Anyway, I feel really bad because the first victim started today - little does he know I quit and my last day is on Friday. At least I chose my vicitms young (in a very legal way), I wouldn't want to elect an adult with kids and a mortgage to endure the wrath of this place!

Well, you could ask sample questions such as:

Are you currently on any anti-depressants? Are you against taking them?

Do you handle lots of stress well?

Do you cry easily?

Any other suggestions?

Should've read your employee hand book. Page 34, paragraph 12 says that 1 of the prerequisites for employment is your ability to propagate bullsh_t.

This one hits home. I took a job 3 weeks ago and wish my interviewer would have been more up front with me. They didn't tell me I would be replacing the person who was interviewing me. They led me to believe that I would be working WITH the person. Little did I know the person was so fed up she quit and I was being interviewed to replace her and support an application where 3 other people were quitting or had recently quit. I feel like I'm drowning. Yesterday they told me they wanted me to sit in on the interviews for the 3 other people's jobs. I am dying to just walk in holding a sign that says "run for your life!" .

At my last job, we opened a position for a programmer which was then removed due to economic conditions. However, the HR recruiter had already flown someone in from another state for an interview and asked me to interview the person but not to tell them the job was gone! So I had to walk this person around the plant to "show them" what the job entailed and ask questions. Finally, the person looked at me and smugly said "I guess it's safe to say I have this job!" At that point I was GLAD the job was closed and simply said "That has yet to be decided!"

Before my present "job from hell", I interviewed for a position in a very prominent local financial mortgage institution. They appear to be doing very well, are buying up all kinds of properties, and run ads every 30 minutes on all the local stations. The president is a youngish guy, who kind of looks like the "guy next door", and there is something scary about him, if you know what I mean. For one thing, he NEVER blinks. Anyway, I go through the VERY extensive testing and interview process, then I am given a tour of the main office (along with the other candidates). As we are trailing behind the interviewer, who is pointing out the various areas of importance, the office personnel are staring at us. I smiled and nodded as we went by, because, oh, I don't know, I felt that we were kind of intruding on their workspace. As our eyes would meet, the employees would shake their heads and murmur "Trust me-you don't want to work here..." After two or three times of this happening, it sure convinced me. They did not call me, and I did not do a follow-up call to them. It was pretty scary. To this day, when I see that guy on the TV commercials, I am glad I did not get called back.
