What's that swimming in my tea?

Dining at a fine restaurant. Waiter brings us 2 ice teas.

After seeing what appears to be a fly in the bottom of one of the glasses, I ask the waiter to take the glass back and bring another one.

He argues with me and tell me that what I'm seeing is NOT a fly, but the reflection of the ice cubes in the tea. When I insist that I want another tea, he reluctantly brings another tea complaining all the time.

Obviously - his tip was 0. When I spoke to the manager on the way out he told me that he was having a lot of trouble with this waiter and he would probably fire him that night.

I retruned a few weeks later and her was gone. When I asked about him - they said that he "left."

Maybe he hadn't taken his medicne that day- or something - but whatever he deserved to go.

You're lucky they didn't charge you for the extra garnish for your tea.

I've had this happen to me before. Sat down at a nice Mexican restaurant, I order their wet burrito without onions, as I'm allergic to them. My orders comes back, fully loaded, onions and all. I told the waiter this, and he opened it up, picked through the meat and cheese - barehanded, mind you- and said that "it's just lettuce". I asked that he have it remade, just in case, and he said "Sir, it's just lettuce on it". I talked to his manager later on, and saw him getting fired as I walked out of the restaurant.

I work in the restaurant industry, and believe me, it's NO PICNIC! If only everyone HAD to do a short stint in this job, I believe that all customers would understand how hard it is, and maybe they would be nicer and less demanding. Also, people, KNOW WHAT THE APPROPRIATE TIPPING AMOUNT IS, PUH---LEASE! 15% for decent service. 20% or more when you think the service is outstanding. A 10% tip is a slap in the face.

I always try to put myself in someone elses shoes. The poor guy was probably making minimum wage and may have been having a bad day... on the other hand maybe he just wasn't meant to work there.
