OK- so yesterday I had my second interview with a relatively small company. I was under the assumption that it would be with 3 people. I get there and of course they play the waiting game with me. When I walk into the room there are 5 people!!!!! The Prez of the Co., General Mgr, Admin. to the Prez, Office Mgr., and the Accountant (what the h#*@?. Pretty much everyone who had an office there. They all appeared to be friendly. They began firing questions at me. then the GM got up and left the room questions kept coming and I tried to remain calm. I had practised for most of the questions ahead of time. after they were all finished then the President started asking me more personal questions? such as what were my families future plans? did we plan to stay in the area? blahblahblah...then after they had finished with the questions they asked the Gm who had entered back into the room at what point I am not sure...No, he didn't have any questions. The admin asked me to give her a list of the trade refs I wanted her to call and we would advance it to the next step. The Prez butts in and says did you talk salary with her? the admin says no, did you want to do that now? he said we might as well, Of course by this time everyone was standing and preparing to leave. So, I shot him a figure. Which by the look on his face must have been a little lower than expected he stated so you could live with that? I said yes I could (what else could I say at this point?) Then they said they would be making a decision this next week...It was just such a strange interview...I felt like I had been in front of a firing squad and they had been shooting all around me. Very glad it's over!!!anybody have a perspective on this?

Unfortunately, I've been in on a couple of interviews like that. They are trying to make you uncomfortable and put you under pressure to see how you react.

Obviously, the accountant was there for budget reasons. This may not be a good sign. The company may be having budget problems.

If this is an example of their management style during a job interview, can you imagine what it's like during an actual job? Run, run while you can. It's just not worth the hassle.

Sounds like a primally scary experience in my book! I agree with Walk The Planks, though. Having the accountant there might not be a good sign at all. It might be a good idea for you to keep looking elsewhere!

Sounds like your were in front of a firing squad. I would run away from these people.
