You Want Me To WHAT????

Ok, so I have been at this company for 10 years and my last name had always been the only one up until a few months ago.

However, the new persons FIRST name comes after mine so if you type our last name in the email program it comes up with two matchs and if you just hit enter it defaults to mine.

Problem - I have a support person role in the company and the new person is a highly paid engineer who supervises several people.

For months I would get emails asking for input on diagrams and projects and I would reply this is [WorkingStiff] you must want [EngineeringGuy]. Most would say ok and I would never hear from them again except for one field-engineer who kept sending me frantic emails asking for advice and saying I needed to call him now! (This guy traveled a lot)

For weeks I would reply and CC the [EngineeringGuy] and would add "Please check the address in the future, this seemed important!"

One day, I was in a rotten mood and I received a frantic email which was CC'ed to a group of other people. The field-engineer was saying that our biggest customer wanted some MAJOR changes to a new product that was to start being made the following week and he wanted to know could it be done or they would have to change the contract...what did I [the want him to do?

I replied:

That is TOTALLY unacceptable, here is what I want you to do.

#1: Tell him we will NOT change our product.

#2: Take the contract, rip it to shreds and throw it in the customers face and say "To heck with you!"

#3: Cross your arms, look at the customer and pass gas loudly (if possible)

By the way, this is a joke, you must want [supervising - engineer], I am [WorkingStiff].

I cc'ed everyone on the original list and hit send. A few moments later I got a lot of replies stating "Oh man that was funny" and "I almost fainted until I read this was a joke!"

The original sender? He replied "Ok, I'll be more careful in the future...."
