How to handle quitting when job hunting

I am wondering, how to deal with quitting a job, then when interviewing for a new job, how to handle it without totally losing any chance of getting the new job....I quit without notice, but did give a letter of resignation. On applications I have been putting the reason I left as "not a good job fit" or did not feel comfortable with "x"....any suggestions?

The classic "left to pursue a better opportunity" line is the way to go. If you left without notice it's obvious there was no good opportunity for you there, so it's a truthful statement. Or you could say you left to pursue advancement opportunity...or you could say "the assignment ended," also apparently true...
