SCRUM this!

I work for a telecommunications company. Every rotten morning my boss makes my team (a group of 10!) do what she calls a "SCRUM". That is, we have to stand up in a circle and report what we have done the day before, what we are going to get done today, and what we have planned for the rest of the week. If, god forbid, we do not finish what we said we were going to do the day before, we are suposed to use this time to explain WHY we did not get it done. What does she do all day??? She sits and throws wrenches into our "scheduled activities" by coming up with crap that "just has to get done today". It is usually bogus crap like "Follow up with so and so", "Run a report and send it to New York" or "Order Pizza for my 12:00 meeting".

So how to I spend every morning (besides wishing I was water skiing)?? Explaining to this woman (in front of my team) what she already knows, why I couldn't do what I suposed to do. How does she spend every morning? Nodding...saying "MmmmHmmmm...ok well why don't you spend some time catching up this morning then?" GOD!

As I write this...it is has occured to me that I sound whipped. Tomorrow I am going to put my foot down.

If anyone needs a Telecommunications Project Manager in Newark I'm open!

Did you know SCRUM is a program you can actually get certified in?
