I had lunch with my old boss last week. It had been 3 years since they outsourced my job and I left the company.
Come to find out there are STILL having trouble getting work done. They have gone through 4 separate outsourcing companies since I left, and still have not found a good replacement for my group to get the work done.
Each of the outsourcing firms claim they have top developers, etc, but then after the contract is signed, they send over the new hires fresh out of training.
My old boss is so pissed and frustrated he wants to leave the company. They keep offering me my old job back, but I have since moved on to bigger and better things.
I must admit I get a little joy out of watching the company struggle. They put a lot of good employees through the ringer back then, and I hope they get every bit of bad karma right back at them in return.

Right there with ya Twiz, I love watching them squirm. I've had my old place call me as well. But there's something in my head that just keeps telling me no...

My older brother's company tried outsourcing the machinests to Mexico. Opened a shop, moved equipment, hired the locals. etc. My bother was worried that he would loose his job.
The quality of work was shoddy at best. The product was out of specs, shoddy material, and customers complained.
As a result the company pulled from Mexico and thus saved my brothers job.
As to hiring local contractors (local outsource) it is far easier to fire the contractor than it is an employee. But I figure there is always a price to pay in the end!

Waaaallll now !!!!!! isn't that interesting?....I'ts been over four years since my job was outsourced...the original company dumped their contract and they are now on company # 2.I can only imagine what salary this latest company is offering the employees.I remember clients saying things like: "Outsourcing is nothing more than a short term, short sighted, desperate fix....It usually comes back to haunt them within four to six years. BINGO.... Stay tuned.

So true. The big trend now is to outsource big Pharma and biotech companies, because they can test on human subjects in China. So if you are an associate level scientist at a biotech firm you could possibly lose your job to China. Why don't we just kill ourselves now, the Chinese hate us and have put lead in everything to make us mentally retarded. It looks like it is working! I will not buy anything made in China. EVER!!!! The Chinese are a dirty evil country and you should never turn your back on one of them, because they will do anything to get ahead!

Okay ... At first the US said that drugs coming from Canada are dangerous. Canada gets their drugs from the US. Therefore US drugs are dangerous! See - Simple logic!
Now lets expand on that thought ...
Drugs made from China can kill. Componants for the US drugs come from China. Therefore US drugs can kill!
US drugs can kill. US drugs from Canada therefore can kill!
In conclution - drugs kill!

Many of the medications used in the USA are manufactured in China. If they decide to get nasty and cut off supply, many of our diabetics and heart pt's wouldn't last a month. China and India own us thanks to greedy CEO's and big business that don't give a damn about their worker bees. It does seem odd many in management do not know their jobs but they will soon be out the door ( we hope) they usually get theirs !

Sadly, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" has never caught on in corporate America. Management screws up a perfectly good system to save a couple of bucks and to be "innovative."
