I was talking to a fellow alumni (whom I don't know) who is now a recruiter. I was able to connect to him via LinkedIn. Anyway, I e-mailed him at first and later e-mailed my resume. A phone call later he said he would try to provide some assistance for me. The issue is that he works for the clients (employers) looking for possible candidates (like myself).
Anyway, we were talking about books to read like "The Dream Manager" (excellent book) and he said a friend of his has a book "Getting Your Foot in the Door When You Don't Have a Leg To Stand On" that he highly suggested. - Public Library here I come! It is about convincing an employer to hire you.
As much as we complain about our present situations and (hopefully) looking for better opportunities, I thought that I would pass this information along. I figure we can whine and complain all we want but unless we take action nothing is going to change in our lives. And change, as frightening as it may appear, can be a good thing! (BTW - I am thinking of writing an article on Change Management and see if I can get it published)
I am just passing this information along so that others may benefit as I do. Sorry but helping others is a part of my nature. I believe in Karma and that good will someday smile upon me. Or as the old saying goes ... "The toes you step on today may be connected to the ass you will be kissing tomorrow." So I don't step on toes nor kiss ass to get ahead. But it does seem that ass-kissers get further than me they also seem to fall more quickly!
