lifeguarding blues Written by college senior on 05/20/2012I had a prob w/ a property manager. She favored a heckler hs student whom busted everyones chops. Property manager told my management company to tell me to do the same. So, I did! As a result, a resident exceeded her guest limit and I told resident: "sorry, 4 is the limit." Residents guest then threatened me and told me she's going to kick my a** and flipped me off very close to my face. The property manager came out and asked what happened. I explained. She told me I was wrong and I should've asked her first. I said, 'I'm only enforcing rule #4, like I was told." She said I was talking back to her and reported me to my management company and asked for a new guard. My blood also boiled. A management rep (the actual guy who hired me) came the next day to mediate between me and property manager and have ME apologize to her!! (I did even though I knew I wasn't wrong.) Not to mention the management company who don't allow breaks (even for the bathroom).. My management supervisor had a sour attitude and spoke to me disrespectfully. Those were VERY long days. It sounds like you might work for the same pool company that hires out our lifeguards at my apartment community. It sounds like the property manager is an immature b!tch. Your company manager made you apologize because they value the business relationship more than being right, which, frankly, is not right, but you know how businesses are. Maybe you can request a reassignment somewhere else? I hope you find something better soon!
