I work for a fine dining restaurant and our general manager is horrible. He pretends to be busy but he is never busy. I am the type of chick who takes initiative. Well either way, what happened was we had a snowstorm in dc and the day before it happened I asked one of the managers does the place close down when there is a snow storm and he responded yes. I called the place for 3 hours trying to get a reply. Finally, I asked a coworker for the cell phone of the boss and he responded with they are open but I did not get that message. Until two hours later because my phone does not work but it can get voicemail, I checked hours later and he yelled at me. The second incident was when we had a guest who wanted to make a reservation for twelve people but it was not possible for that day. He seemed like an important guest because he held several private events here with his company and his wife. So I contacted the general manager who told me to tell him that it was not possible which I did but the client continued to make threats towards me and being that he had a consistent and established relationship with the restaurant, I didnt know if he was a key guest for us so I called the director of operations who was not available. In the office we have a list of managers to call. The owner is on that list and he is considered a manager so I called him. The other manager the general manager yelled at me so unprofessionally. Tell me what you think, did I step out of bounds?

It seems to me that you followed protocal quite well. Your boss's insecurity problem here is the problem. You were professional and he wasn't, end of story.

I agree with the Rev...as well I should, schitzophrenia not withstanding. :>

You were being proactive, and in my opinion most places would appreciate this! Good for you for going out of your way in customer service, after all that business wouldn't exist without customer service. You were right!

It sounds like you're doing the general manager's job for him and he resents that you called the owner, thereby showing that he doesn't do any work. Everything's OK as long as you don't make him look bad....

Um, exactly how does this make him gay? I mean straight people can be irritating, too...

I'm not sure if you were in the right or not. Based on the fact that many of your sentences are not altogether coherent and that your maturity level is at a the point of calling somebody gay because they upset you (elementary kids do this), I'm guessing that the whole story isn't being told.
