I came to the panhandle of Florida in 1996 and have regretted it ever since. In 1997 I had my wallet and check book stolen..I thought "no biggie" as I had noticed it immediately and reported it to the police, filed afadavits of forgery, filled out police reports, etc.. My better half and I actually did the detective work and gained the identities of the people who stole my property and turned them over to the police in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. We thought that it was a done deal. WRONG!!! The policeman and detective on the case failed to send the paperwork through the correct channels so the theives go free. I turned the other cheek...wrong thing to do. In 2002 "I" was arrested for "felony stop payment" and spent two weeks in jail until I could get a family member to bail me out. I show up to court with a breifcase load of ammo to fire at the police department and the prosecuting attorney and was told when I walked through the door that my case had mysteriously been wiped off of the docket (evidently so the local police and prosecutor could save face). I get a letter from the prosecuting attys. office that says, and i quote "NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO PROSECUTE". So..as you can guess by this time I want to tie someone to a tree and feed them 5 pounds of exlax. 9 years later the state of florida has added a grand felony charge to my arrest record (I WAS NEVER ARRESTED FOR ANYTHING ELSE IN MY LIFE) and has cost me another job. I over forty and looking for a job in this economy with an arrest record (trying to get it expunged). If you want justice DO NOT COME TO FLORIDA.

Sounds like you need to get filing on the identity theft trail along with getting some legal counsel to make sure the felony is not listed on your record. Only complaining to a job website is stupid.

Dude..you think I haven't done everything including writing a letter to the F.D.L.E. comissioner.?!? By the way..this website is for people to complain..and sometimes it's a great way to releive stress. DUH!

Sometimes the only thing left to do is to embarrass them as much as you can. Try any news outlet that will listen to your story and will print it or broadcast it. Let's hope there is any shame left in the State of Florida however I doubt it. Next check if Walton beach can be sued and has by chance similar cases pending. ( Some counties passed regulations declaring themselves and their employees immune from lawsuits and prosecution.) Depending on your research find a lawyer who will take your case. He may not practice in the same city or county.

We looked at Florida years ago and could not wait to leave.

Florida is an awful RED state where Bubbas, Dubyas and other such eejeets drive their HUGE trucks/SUVs with confederate flags a flyin'! Long rant short? Florida is a podunk extraordinaire. You will NEVER get justice in these types of states (SOUTH...Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama and the Carolinas) UNLESS you are the police commissioner's niece, daughter (get my drift?!), etc. Yikes!
