The thing that really gets me is that when a customer service job is advertised, it sometimes means, telemarketing. Or administrative assistant=receptionist. It would be nice if the salary fit the job title. Or when they want you to do the work of 5 people and pay you ten bucks an hour. I've been making the same ten bucks for the past ten years. Now you need a college degree to answer the phone, or to file. It's ridiculous. It's enough to make you want to move to France, where they get 6 weeks mandatory paid vacation a year and free college. Sometimes living here sucks!

I know how you feel. Being the first US born sheds some light on things. My father (Canadian) became a legal citizen of the US when he was 18. It wasn't too long ago he told me that the US is no longer the place it use to be.
He said that if he were younger he would be willing to denounce his US citizenship and become a Canadian again. But he says it is too cold there for him now. My father still left the US anyway and now lives on the other side of the world.
On my mother's side I am a second generation US citizen (from Sweden) (Svenska). Of course my mother still lives here in the States.
My wife on the other hand is a citizen through-and-through. Her people have been here for several thousand years before the 'white man' came along.
She and I have talked about leaving the US but she won't go because of Grandma. I say England and my wife says France.
P.S. - Swedish was my first language, Spanish was my secong and English is my third. I am curently only fluent in English, understand Spanish and speak some, while Swedish I know just a few words and phrases. But I figure not bad knowing three languages by the time you're five!

> I say England and my wife says France.
Compromise then for Holland or Switzerland. ;)
Is it an absolute no-no for your wife to leave?
