The new boss

Last year our director retired. Instead of looking inside first to replace him, the company decided to go outside first. They ended up hiring a guy from some big 5 consulting company. After his first few weeks, we hadn't really got to know him that well. He spend most of his time in his office, which was right next to all our cubicles. Well most of us worked an 8-5 schedule, like many people, we have families outside of work and like to put in a hard days work and go home at a reasonable hour. This new boss was from a much different mentality. He was in the office at 7am, and rarely ever left before any of us at 5pm. Rumor has it he often stayed until 7pm. Sounds like a great life to me, anyway back to the story. So a few weeks go by and the new boss finally schedules a group meeting with everyone on the floor. We thought it was going to be one of those, "Hi, just wanted to see how things were going and get to know you" type meetings. So we all go into a conference room and sit down. This jack ass doesn't even say hello, hi how are you all doing... he immediately goes into a tantrum on how we (generalizing all of us) are not working hard enough and he is sick of being the first guy in and last guy out each night. He goes on about how much work needs to get done and how he wants everyone to start working later and putting in more hours like they should be. Like we should be? If I remember correctly, I don't get paid for overtime. I get paid to work 40 hours. I often work more than that on a regular basis, and this guy has the nerve to tell me I need to work more just because he doesn't want to be the last guy leaving at night? What a loser. At least his family is probably happy, since they don't have to see him around that often.
