Slap or Not to Slap that is the question....

I worked in a small town in the USA. This boss of mine, she had a serious power trip going on. Not only that, they think it is okay for people to slap people upside their head and slap on their shoulder when things don't go their way. This behavior and verbal abuse is what goes on there. In a legal point of view, I am suprised on how many companies can get away with that.

Anyways, the first time I let it slide and told her I didn't like that and not to do it. The 2nd time she slapped me in the back. I said if anyone else was to do that to me I would knock them on their ass.

Third, time I just couldn't take the emotional stress, bullying, or the slapping and put the two weeks notice. I worked for this company for almost 1 year. That's it. I need a job but not that bad.

GOOD FOR YOU! That type of behavior is totally unacceptable and abusive! It's great that you respected yourself enough to know that no job or amount of money is worth that. I posted something not too long ago on here about my boss being a wacko and I realized I was not ok working under him and applied for a transfer (just department, not location) and I start on Monday. I realized life is just too short to work for a crazy person.

Take what you just wrote to a lawyer!!

What you just described is actually assault. You could have pressed assault charges against the person(s) who were slapping. I know this because I talked to a lawyer when I had an incident where a stranger of a man at a meeting decided that I needed a back massage during the meeting. He actually was sitting behind me and decided to just reach forward and start massaging my shoulders, while commenting on how tense I must be. I thought it was sexual harrassment, and the lawyer I spoke to about it said, no, it was an aggrevated assualt. Apparently, any unwanted touching can be construed as an assualt.

By the way, if you got a hold of other people working there at the company who have been slapped and/or people who have worked there and are no longer there, but were slapped when they worked there, you could probably file a class action suit against the company, aside from the assault charges. Talk to a lawyer about it.
