Okay today I had a severely retarded moment. The phone was ringing off the hook, and every time I answered one line, another would start ringing, so I'd have to put the one I was on on hold and go back, etc, etc. Well, while I was finishing up with one call, I had to put them on hold again and put this other line on hold (In case I haven't mentioned, I hate doing that. Nothing pleases me more than getting rid of a caller, regardless of how pleasant they are), well, I picked up the second line, and I thought I had put them on hold. I looked over at my cubemates (neat bunch, those chicks), and said, "Jeez, I've been getting all kinds of wierd callers today! Is it a full moon out or something?"
Then there was a voice on my headset:
"Gee, I hope I'm not one of those wierd callers!"
My feet started sweating instantly! I was soooo embarassed!
Luckily, the lady on the other end was a good sport and we laughed about it, but I was still mortified! I need to drink more coffee and eat more breakfast in the morning....
Gosh, I felt sooooo stupid!

Sounds like the caller was nice and that you were, too. The caller must have had background in education--we hear inappropriate and/or not meant to be heard comments all the time and roll with it.Good story.

I apologized profusely, but she just said it was okay and continued to have a good laugh about it. I'm glad she wasn't mad at me! I had been getting wierd callers all morning who were irate at having to pay back a debt to a dead dentist. I sort of forgot to include that part.....
